The Railway Administration (Správa železniční dopravní cesty, SŽDC) used the services of Power Exchange Central Europe (PXE) for end users and successfully purchased traction electricity in a record volume of 1.344 TWh for 2020.
After last year's positive experience, the Railway Administration again decided to use PXE to purchase electricity for 2020. With a demanded volume of 1,343,952 MWh, it was the largest auction in history. A total of seven suppliers registered for the exchange floor. The contracting authority, the Railway Administration, chose the form of the auction price as an addition coefficient in CZK/MWh above the wholesale market. The winning value of the addition coefficient is 127.9 CZK/MWh. The resulting delivery price is the sum of the addition coefficient and the weighted average of the successively fixed price of the reference contract on the wholesale market during the current year. The contracting authority monitored the entire course of the exchange floor in real time in the unique PARC system operated by PXE. This option is very welcome among clients, especially in terms of transparency of the entire competition process. The winning supplier was ČEZ ESCO, a.s., which will provide electricity for the Railway Administration next year under the given conditions.

POWER EXCHANGE CENTRAL EUROPE (PXE) was founded in July 2007. PXE is part of the EEX Group, which associates international energy and commodities markets bringing together more than 550 trading participants from 36 countries. The energy products of the PXE wholesale market are traded on the EEX trading system platform, and EEX trading participants thus also have access, thanks to PXE, in addition to Western European markets, to the trading of Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian and Polish electricity futures. PXE also provides gas trading in the form of derivative products with delivery to a virtual trading point on the Czech market. Trading takes place on Powernext's PEGAS CEGH Czech Market, where PXE serves its Czech segment.
PXE also offers the service for end customers, in particular companies, municipalities, state administration and in general for all larger consumers, who are provided the opportunity to find the most suitable electricity and natural gas supplier through electronic auctions at the best possible price, under completely transparent conditions.
